Itsa good and reliable car. If automatic is your thing, Id say you should go ahead and buy it. Its good for being a daily driver, or even take on road trips, but compared to the rwd volvos, they kinda took the fun out of this one. However It is a great, solid, safe and reliable car. The autobox is not too bad either.
1964is my favorite year for Volvo wagons. A P210 gets you a nice, high roof, and the vertically split rear doors that are very utilitarian. If you prefer a more modern feel, the '64 122s wagon gets you the early style interior and exterior trim (grilles, fender badges), but you get the disc brakes up front. All around, a really good package.
The1.6d only needed a new alternator and 30€ belt, otherwise no issues at all in those 6 years. The newer D3-D5 are 100% Volvo and I haven't heard of someone having problems. If you buy used, try the 5 cylinder D3/D4, massive torque and beautiful sound. The 110hp D2, based on the 1.6d and upgraded by Volvo, needs less particle filter
Hello been looking at used cars for my next buy- in the preliminary research stage, but stumbled across used volvos and was surprised by how cheap they come.
Thetransmission function started wearing out until recently, checked with Volvo and said it happens to all cars before 2017-18. So you should be fine, you can talk to Volvo service agent about the car and they will be happy to give you an advice, atleast the parramatta service folks are keen to help. Overall a great family car, happy with it.
